Subject: Got Your Message: Sunrise Review Process
Importance: High

Hi Dale.  I apologize for the delay in getting back to you.  I heard your message the other day, and meant to respond at that time.  Not many ‘wetland scientist’ surveys were submitted to the Department in response to the request for information.  Completed surveys were posted on the DPFR website at www.maine.gov/pfr/legislative/index.htm.

Information from the surveys is being used to develop a Sunrise Review report, which is due by February 15th.  It will be submitted to the Business, Research and Economic Development Committee (BRED), which handled the original legislation.  BRED Committee members will review the report, which becomes public when it’s submitted or very soon afterward.  Your survey, and the others, will be included in the report.  The Committee can then do whatever its members believe is best---move forward with licensure, decline to do so, etc.

There isn’t a role for you or others at this point, I don’t believe.  If I was in your position, I’d follow the Committee’s schedule beginning in late January or early February.  The links at the bottom of this message should help you track the Committee’s activities.  I’d read the report when it’s available and be prepared to respond to questions from the Committee.  Generally, I’d try to anticipate the various directions the Committee might head in, and be ready to respond.  If you have other questions at this point, please let me know.
